WoW me!

Enjoying cross-cultural shopping!

Here at the WBTUK base we have events now and again to provide you with more information and a taster of what it is like working with Wycliffe Bible Translators both in the UK and overseas. One of these events (and my personal favourite!) is Window on Wycliffe. It is a 5 day taster course and happens twice a year, usually in February and July – if you’d like to find out more click the link above, the deadline for our February course is looming but the next is in July so why not have a look and get in touch?

WoW gives it’s participants a more in-depth look at the Biblical basis for mission, how Bible translation fits into God’s mission and what is involved in supporting Bible translation worldwide in many different ways. You’ll get a hands-on look at each of these issues and more over the week and enjoy the chance to meet lots of like-minded people.

One thing which really struck me when I took part in this course was the diversity of God’s creation, both in the backgrounds of the people on the course and also the types of people He chooses to involve in His mission to bring His people back to Him. It was a week during which I realised that Bible translation isn’t just about finding the right word for “grace” in Moloko, or thinking about how to tell the story of Christ’s crucifixion and the shame cast onto Him by being spat on to a group of people to whom spitting is a sign of blessing and respect (more cross-cultural challenges on Clarke and Alison’s blog), it’s so much more than that. It’s about partnership, it’s about God and His people, it’s about His awesome love.

Do you want to be challenged to see God’s word in a new light? Will you live God’s story and help give it to those who are still waiting? Click here to find out how.
